LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Attorney General Bill Schuette and his wife reported income of about $313,000 last year, down more than 50 percent compared to 2012.

Schuette released a summary of his 2013 federal tax return Friday. He and wife Cynthia reported $93,000 in dividend income and $71,000 in capital gains.

Schuette says they paid about $63,000 in federal, state and local taxes, and donated about $55,000 to charity. An independent trustee manages the couple’s assets to avoid a conflict with his job as attorney general.

The 60-year-old Schuette has mostly worked in public office as an elected or appointed official since 1985.
