JACKSON, Mo. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty last year to driving into a group of joggers in southeast Missouri has withdrawn his motion for a new trial.

Twenty-year-old Vincent Anderson, of Little Rock, Arkansas, was sentenced last year to 12 years in prison for first-degree assault after he drove a stolen car into the joggers in downtown Cape Girardeau in October 2012.

Three of the joggers suffered minor injuries.

In April, Anderson’s attorney filed a motion seeking a new trial. The Southeast Missourian reports (https://bit.ly/1t6C4Xl ) Anderson decided after a hearing on Monday to withdraw the motion but it was not immediately clear why.

Anderson’s passenger, 27-year-old Marcus Jones, of Cotton Plant, Arkansas, was sentenced to 90 days in jail for two misdemeanors in connection with the case.
