CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - Connie Crumhorn has taken office as registrar of voters in St. Bernard Parish.

Nola.comThe Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1p0wRTe ) she was sworn-in this past week by Clerk of Court Randy Nunez.

The Parish Council selected Crumhorn to replace Velma Bourg, who resigned earlier this year.



Crumhorn becomes the second member of her family to be named registrar. Her mother, Rita Crumhorn, served 18 years in the office until she stepped down in August 2007. Bourg succeeded Rita Crumhorn.

Before joining the registrar’s office under Bourg’s administration, Connie Crumhorn taught business education at local high schools and worked as a court reporter.

She was selected from a field of about 20 applicants.
