PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - This weekend marks the unofficial start of beach season in Rhode Island.

Many state beaches are opening for the summer season starting Saturday, and all state beaches will remain open on a daily basis through Labor Day.

They include Burlingame Picnic Area and Campground, Pulaski Park, George Washington Campground and Fort Adams State Park.

State beaches that had opened earlier will now be open daily, including some of the state’s most popular: Scarborough, Roger Wheeler, East Matunuck and Misquamicut (mis-KWAH’-mih-cut), as well as the freshwater beach at Lincoln Woods State Park.

The daily beach parking fee at state beaches for Rhode Island residents is $10 on weekdays and $14 on weekends and holidays. For nonresidents, it’s $20 on weekdays and $28 on weekends and holidays.
