PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - It’s another big weekend for college graduations in Rhode Island.

Students at Brown University and Johnson and Wales University will be receiving degrees.

Johnson and Wales plans to hand out 1,838 degrees to students on Saturday. It’s also giving honorary degrees to people including Carolyn Rafaelian, founder, creative director and chief executive officer of the Cranston-based fashion jewelry firm Alex and Ani. It’s the school’s 100th anniversary.

Brown is celebrating its 250th anniversary and will give out more than 2,000 degrees during commencement on Sunday. The Ivy League university is also giving honorary degrees to people including the novelist Jeffrey Eugenides (yoo-JEN’-ih-deez), children’s book author Lois Lowry and U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez.

“Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson is expected to receive a bachelor’s degree from Brown on Sunday.
