RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A car crash investigation in Raleigh has turned into a homicide probe after authorities determined the victim was shot in the chest.
Investigators said Travis Rhodes’ Ford Mustang crossed the median of U.S. Highway 1 just north of Interstate 440 late Saturday night and stopped on the side of the road.
Authorities say Rhodes died a short time later at the hospital, where doctors determined he had been shot in the chest.
Police don’t have any suspects and haven’t released what led to the shooting or why Rhodes was driving himself without contacting authorities.
