DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police say an 11-year-old girl and four men were wounded in a shootout in front of a home on the city’s west side.

Officer Adam Madera tells the Detroit Free Press the shootings happened Saturday afternoon.

Madera says four to five people opened fire, hitting the girl and a 42-year-old man. The officer says men ages 20 and 21 emerged from the house and were shot as well.

Madera says one of those injured returned fire.

WDIV-TV says flying glass cut a 3-year-old girl inside a house.

Madera says the 21-year-old was critically hurt, while the girl and the others were seriously hurt.

Madera says a fifth man who was wounded in the leg showed up at a hospital and said he was injured in the shootout.
