NEW ORLEANS (AP) - An Orleans Parish grand jury has indicted the driver in a fatal crash that killed a triathlete in eastern New Orleans.

The New Orleans Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1jgSNSd ) Howard Vidrine was charged with one count of negligent homicide in the death of Frank Guinn, a firefighter from Atlanta; Vidrine also faces one count of negligent injury involving Andrew Powell, Guinn’s brother-in-law.

Authorities say the two men were training April 11 for the 70-mile Ochsner Ironman triathlon that weekend when they were struck from behind and thrown into the air.

Vidrine, who was free on bond, was taken back into custody this week and was being held on $600,000 bail set by Criminal Court Judge Karen Herman.
