HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Nearly 100 new doctors are heading from Hattiesburg to hospitals across the country, following the first-ever commencement of William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Also following the Saturday graduation, WDAM-TV reports (bit.ly/1k9HF9X) the university obtained full accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation.

William Carey graduated 94 students who’ve been studying for doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees for four years.

Most students will now continue their studies as medical residents at various locations nationwide.

There are about 30 schools of osteopathic medicine in the U.S.
