NEPTUNE, N.J. (AP) - Two men were wounded when shots rang out on a central New Jersey street.

Monmouth County prosecutors tell the Asbury Park Press (https://on.app.com/SGEJvO) that the shooting in Neptune occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots, but authorities did not release details on how many shooters may have been involved or what type of weapon was used.

The two wounded men, identified only as Asbury Park residents ages 20 and 26, were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released. Further details on their injuries were not disclosed.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
