NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a southern Indiana man was killed when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving fell about 6 feet over a concrete embankment.

State conservation officers say 38-year-old William Duitz of Borden left a New Albany home on the ATV to get cigarettes Monday evening. A passer-by spotted him about 45 minutes later.

Floyd County police say Duitz died at the scene and that a helmet likely would have prevented his injuries from being fatal.

Conservation officers say alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash in the city just north of Louisville, Kentucky.
