Bowling Green man charged with sexual abuse of girl, due in court June 2

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A Bowling Green man is scheduled to appear in court on June 2 on charges that he sexually abused a 10-year-old girl.

Police said 21-year-old Stephen Ray Smith kissed and inappropriately touched the girl while at her father’s house watching a movie in an upstairs bedroom earlier this year.

Smith was initially arrested April 16, the day after Bowling Green police received a complaint that Smith molested a minor there.

Police say the father of the girl named as the victim told police the minor confided to him that Smith abused her.

Warren Circuit Judge Steve Wilson set Smith’s bond at $10,000 cash. Smith remains in Warren County Regional Jail. Jail records did not list an attorney for Smith.
