PELL CITY, Ala. (AP) - Police in Pell City are investigating after they say a 5-year-old boy drowned at Lakeside Park.

Police tell WBRC-TV (https://bit.ly/1inpHkG) that the drowning happened late Monday afternoon during a family gathering on the shore of Logan Martin Lake. They say the boy was found submerged in the water shortly before 5 p.m.

Police say a nurse was at the park and began CPR until first responders arrived.

The boy was taken St. Vincent’s St. Clair hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It was at least the second drowning on Alabama lakes in as many days.

In Winston County on Sunday, sheriff’s officials said 7-year-old Joshua Alexander died after slipping into deep water while he was wading in Smith Lake during a family trip.
