MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Dane County sheriff’s deputies who killed a man during a struggle in a Town of Primrose home earlier this month won’t face criminal charges.

Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said Tuesday his office reviewed evidence and the officers who fatally shot Dean Caccamo acted appropriately.

The report outlines a scene in Caccamo’s parent’s home, where police say the man brutally beat his mother and stepfather.

The report says Caccamo pepper-sprayed an officer and grabbed a deputy’s non-lethal shotgun.

An officer shot Caccamo and wounded the deputy who was fighting for his shotgun. The report says Caccamo then stabbed an officer trying to handcuff him. Another officer used a Taser that had no effect on Caccamo.

Caccamo died on the way to the hospital after the shot punctured his lung.
