LOVINGTON, N.M. (AP) - The Lovington police chief has been placed on paid leave and officials are giving few details on why.
Lovington City Manager James Williams told the Hobbs News-Sun (https://goo.gl/2xbOLF) last week that Police Chief Danny Bryant was placed on paid administrative leave earlier this month over a personnel matter. Williams could not say when or if Bryant would be returning to work.
He says administrative Lt. David Rodriguez is working as the southeastern New Mexico city’s acting chief.
Bryant replaced former chief Chan Kim in August 2012 after Kim was fired over a personnel issue.
Bryant is a 30-year law enforcement veteran who has worked in Hobbs, Eunice, Ruidoso and in Arizona.
