AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Vote-counting will now begin in far West Texas after the last open polls in Texas closed.

The polls closed at 7 p.m. Central time in all parts of Texas except for El Paso and Hudspeth counties in extreme western Texas and a small part of adjacent Culberson County around the Guadalupe Mountains.

Those areas in the Mountain Time Zone remained open an extra hour until 7 p.m. Mountain time or 8 p.m. Central time.
