WASHINGTON (AP) - Miami Marlins starter Henderson Alvarez left the team’s game against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night after five innings with right elbow stiffness.

The team announced he was removed for precautionary reasons.

Alvarez, who left with a 4-0 lead, hadn’t allowed a run while giving up five hits and throwing 62 pitches.
