ALVA, Okla. (AP) - Northwestern Oklahoma State University outfielder Jonathan Freemyer has become the school’s first-ever NCAA All-American.

The senior outfielder from Kingwood, Texas was named this week to the third team of the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-Division II squad.

Freemyer hit .358 for the year and ranked fifth nationally in both homeruns and slugging percentage. Last month, he was named Great American Conference Player of the Year.

Freemyer finished out his basketball career at the school more than a year ago, earning 2013 First Team All-Great American Conference status. His 1,499 points rank third on Northwestern’s all-time scoring list.

After playing baseball part-time during the past two springs, Freemyer shifted his full attention to the sport this year.
