CARSON, California (AP) - Fanendo Adi scored his first two Major League Soccer goals to help the Portland Timbers beat Chivas USA 2-0 on Wednesday.

Portland won its second straight game and third in its last five. Chivas remains in last place in the Western Conference.

Former Chivas midfielder Jorge Villafana helped create the first goal when he ran down the left flank in the 65th minute and passed to Adi for a shot from 10 yards out.

Adi doubled Portland’s advantage in the 71st minute on a breakaway goal.

The Nigerian striker joined the Timbers earlier this month on loan from Danish first-division side FC Copenhagen. He made his first Timbers start against Chivas.
