SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) - Authorities say a Vermont man high on a combination of bath salts and cough syrup threatened a trooper with throwing knives sheathed to his body.
State police say the trooper was on patrol Saturday in Springfield and saw 26-year-old Vincent Turcio fall on his head in a gas station parking lot and later fall out of a chair at the station. The trooper says when Turcio was asked whether he had ID, he lifted his shirt and reached for three throwing knives in a sheath strapped to his chest. The trooper stopped him and Turcio was taken into custody and to a hospital.
Turcio told state police he had taken bath salts and drank five bottles of cough syrup.
He was hospitalized and unavailable for comment. He faces several charges.
