ST. FRANCIS, Maine (AP) - A woman has been shot to death in northern Maine, and police are looking for a man they consider armed and dangerous.

Maine State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding 38-year-old Jesse Marquis.

Authorities responded to a domestic violence call Saturday at a St. Francis residence on the Canadian border. Police say a 31-year-old woman, whose name hasn’t been released, was killed. Witnesses say they saw Marquis leave the home and go into the woods with a rifle.

He’s described as 5 feet 7 inches and 150 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a green hooded sweatshirt and a ball cap. Anyone who sees him is asked to call state police at 207-532-5400 or Aroostook (ah-RUHS’-tuk) County authorities at 1-800-638-8477.
