CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Oral Roberts University has won an important Southland Conference series with the University of Central Arkansas, winning the finale 4-2 and taking the series 2-1.

The Golden Eagles (25-22, 12-12) broke a tie with UCA for eighth place in the SLC standings with Sunday’s win. The SLC Tournament field will consist of the top eight teams, with the tournament scheduled May 21-24.

The Golden Eagles went ahead 2-0 with single runs in the second and third innings, but the Bears tied it in the bottom of the third. Sophomore catcher Brandon Montalvo led off the inning with his first career home run, a blast that cleared the left-center wall.

ORU went back ahead for good in the fifth, aided by an infield single and a throwing error on the Bears.
