TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) - A Taylorsville man died after a car he was working on fell on top of him.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal says 58-year-old Joseph Melnicki was working on the car in the parking lot of an apartment complex when the accident occurred Saturday afternoon.

Hoyal says a front tire had been removed from the car with the help of a jack, and the vehicle came down on Melnicki after the jack either slipped or fell.

Paramedics tried to revive Melnicki but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
