NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Canadian pharmaceutical company is locating a $1 million operation in North Charleston that’s expected to create 60 jobs.

Aeterna Zentaris will initially locate in the South Carolina Research Authority Applied Research Center in North Charleston. The Quebec-based biopharmaceutical company develops treatments for use in cancer and in endocrinology.

The company plans to establish partnerships with the Medical University of South Carolina and other research facilities in the Charleston area.
