AQUEBOGUE, N.Y. (AP) - Search crews have recovered the body of a man who had reported that his sailboat was taking on water off New York’s Long Island.

The Coast Guard dispatched several search units, including a helicopter, after Stellges radioed midday Sunday to say that water was coming into his vessel while it was about three miles north of Jacobs Point.

Jacobs Point is in Northville on Long Island’s North Fork, near Aquebogue.

Officials say Stellges was wearing a life vest when he was found in the 46-degree water.
