CANTON, Ohio (AP) - A dog that was with a family when a car went off a northeast Ohio interstate bridge and plunged into a creek last week was found dead over the weekend.
The crash on Interstate 77 in Canton on Wednesday killed 23-year-old Paul Guthrie and his 3-month-old daughter. Two other family members were seriously injured when their car ended up in Nimishillen Creek.
The (Canton) Repository (https://bit.ly/1lRbyRf ) reports that two boys fishing Sunday found the body of the dog, a pit bull-mix named Aspen.
Kelly Schoelles with the Tuscarawas County Humane Society said the family had volunteered to foster the dog, which had been at a shelter for more than year after being neglected and abandoned.
Volunteers had searched for the dog for days after the crash.
