LAS VEGAS (AP) - McCarran International Airport is welcoming a Swiss airline’s inaugural flight from Zurich to Las Vegas.

The Edelweiss Air flight from Kloten Airport arrived Monday afternoon.

Edelweiss plans to offer round trips between Las Vegas and Zurich twice a week.

Officials in Las Vegas have been trying to encourage more international tourism, which tends to be more lucrative because guests stay longer.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority projects the new Edelweiss flights will bring 18,700 passengers to Las Vegas annually and will generate $20 million a year in nongaming economic impact for Las Vegas.
