WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) - A man serving time for theft in a community corrections center in southwestern Pennsylvania has escaped while he was being taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Troopers from the Waynesburg barracks say 26-year-old Chad Adam Flick ran away as a security officer was escorting him from the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Franklin Township about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Flick, who has been convicted of theft-related charges in Somerset County, had been taken to the hospital for an unspecified medical treatment. He’s been incarcerated at the Progress Community Corrections Center, a less-secure facility for nonviolent offenders run by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

State police, Waynesburg police and the Greene County sheriff’s office say Flick ran into some nearby woods and hasn’t been located since.
