BOONTON, N.J. (AP) - Trains are rolling again along a section of New Jersey Transit’s Montclair-Boonton Line after workers repaired a track washout caused by flooding.

NJ Transit had suspended service after flooding washed away the stones that support the rails between Boonton and Towaco stations early Thursday. Buses shuttled passengers between Montclair State University and Denville.

Repairs required an engineering assessment, excavation of a compromised drain pipe, replacing the stones and surfacing the track bed.

Midtown Direct service was not affected.
