SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego Gas and Electric crews worked through the night to restore power to Redwood Village after a runaway truck slammed into several cars and a power pole, darkening hundreds of homes.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department tells KFMB-TV that a furniture delivery truck apparently slipped out of gear and started rolling at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Resident Adam Butner says he ran outside when he heard the popping sounds. He says it sounded like gunshots and all the power lines were shaking like crazy.

Investigators are trying to determine why the truck started moving, whether the brake wasn’t set or if it failed.
