HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Police have stormed a house on Long Island but have not found a gunman who fatally shot two men.

Newsday reports (nwsdy.li/1htMPh6) a search by police failed to turn up a suspect early Tuesday. A $5,000 reward has been issued.

The shooting happened just after 1 p.m. Monday on Belmont Parkway near Greenwich Street in the Village of Hempstead.

Police say a person was seen running into the home after the shooting. It wasn’t clear if anyone was still in the house or if there was a hostage situation. The shooter’s identity wasn’t known.

Police cordoned off the street. The body of one of the men was seen lying on a lawn. The second victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he was pronounced dead.
