STALLINGS, N.C. (AP) - Two men are in custody after authorities said a home invasion turned into a police standoff in Stallings.

Union County officials say the incident began around 10 p.m. Monday at a home near the Mecklenburg County line.

Someone at the house called 911. Deputies discovered two men in the house were holding two hostages. One of the men surrendered and a 12-year-old hostage was released unharmed before midnight. The second hostage escaped through a window.

Law enforcement officers shot tear gas into the home, and shortly after 5 a.m., Tuesday the second man came out.

Police said 29-year-old Henry Clyburn and 26-year-old Wesley Baker are charged with burglary and kidnapping. Both are in the Union County jail, and records didn’t indicate if either man had an attorney.
