CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Three people were injured when they were hit by a minivan in the parking lot of a Concord church serving as a polling place.

The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Center United Methodist Church.

City spokesman Peter Franzese said the minivan was moving in reverse when the three people were hit. Franzese said the minivan also hit a parked car. It wasn’t immediately known whether either the pedestrians or the driver were at the precinct to vote or had already voted.

The injured were transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast. Franzese said the three were in stable condition.

Cabarrus County Board of Elections Director Carol Link Soles said voting was uninterrupted at the precinct.

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
