DETROIT (AP) - A former Detroit teacher has received three years in prison for a fake billing scheme that cost the district $530,000.

U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade says 39-year-old Domonique Campbell was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Detroit.

Campbell’s mother, Sandra, was sentenced in December to 5 years, 10 months in prison.

McQuade’s office says trial evidence showed the money was stolen between 2004 and 2008 and that orders were placed with the Campbells’ sham company for books and educational materials that were never provided to the school district.

A jury found 60-year-old Sandra Campbell guilty of conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and tax charges. She is a former contract accountant for the school district.

Domonique Campbell was found guilty of program fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and tax charges.
