VERSAILLES, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky man facing murder and other charges in the death of his brother has entered a not guilty plea.

Vernon Saunders of Versailles is also accused of tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse in the death of 51-year-old Timothy Saunders.

Police told media that autopsy results found that Timothy Saunders was shot multiple times before his body was dragged by a vehicle along a Woodford County highway for more than a mile. A passer-by found it Sunday morning and called police.

WKYT-TV reports Saunders pleaded not guilty to the charges on Monday. According to the station, he told officers that he shot his brother because he thought he was an intruder and then tried to dispose of the body because he got scared.
