JENNIINGS, La. (AP) - An Opelousas man last seen Friday has been found dead inside a crashed vehicle in Jefferson Davis Parish.

Louisiana State Police just after 1 p.m. Tuesday responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 eastbound, just east of the U.S. Highway 165 overpass. A preliminary investigation shows a 1999 Dodge Durango drove off the right side of the highway and hit several small trees before being stopped by a larger tree. The truck was hidden in the foliage and authorities say the crash likely occurred earlier.

The victim, 63-year-old Carroll Gobert, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers say it appears Gobert may have been leaning over onto the passenger side at the time of the crash.
