TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The creek that runs through Sabino Canyon on the northern outskirts of Tucson has run dry about three weeks earlier than normal.

The Arizona Daily Star (https://bit.ly/1mvhTF3 ) reports that Sabino Creek stopped flowing on April 17, well before the dry-up dates about a week into May seen during the past two years.

Emmett McGuire of the U.S. Geological Survey’s Arizona Water Science Center says it’s because of the warm weather and lack of moisture.

McGuire says there probably won’t be water coursing through the popular sightseeing and hiking area until the monsoon.
