TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey has sued the Christie administration for denying open public records requests stemming from the controversial George Washington Bridge lane closures.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in state Superior Court in Mercer County and was made public Wednesday. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for July 21.

The ACLU is challenging the decision by nine state agencies, including Christie’s office, to deny a request from a community activist in southern New Jersey who sought records of all the OPRA requests others had made regarding the lane closures.

The Christie administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday afternoon.
