CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - A Delta State University alumnus who leads a foundation that works to improve the child welfare system will speak to the university’s graduates Saturday.

William Bell, a Bolivar County native and 1982 graduate of Delta State, will address the university’s 408 graduates in the Walter Sillers Coliseum in Cleveland.

Bell is CEO of Casey Family Programs, the nation’s largest operating foundation focused entirely on foster care and improving the child welfare system. Bell was named Delta State’s 2012 outstanding alumnus.

Bell is the former commissioner of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services.

He keynoted last month’s International Business Symposium at Delta State and says he will share personal stories in his speech to encourage the university’s graduates.
