PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A brush fire that burned an estimated 500 acres near Prescott is fully contained as one crew remains on the scene to keep tabs on it.

Authorities say the Iron Fire was declared at 100 percent containment Tuesday night.

Winds whipped the fire in grasslands north of the Prescott airport along State Route 89.

It’s believed the fire was human-caused.

The fire started less than a year after Prescott lost 19 members of a hotshot crew during a wildfire. It was the worst loss of life for firefighters in the U.S. since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

A Prescott National Forest hotshot crew was among the many firefighters who fought the fire.
