NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A police chase in New Haven has led to crash that set a building on fire.

Police say an officer was chasing a motorist who had run a stop sign just before 2 a.m., when the car struck a utility pole on Front Street near Grand Avenue.

The pole came down on the car and a nearby building set both on fire. Police were able to pull the suspect from the burning vehicle.

Nobody in the building was injured.

Police say one officer and the suspect were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not considered life threatening.
