UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. (AP) - Governors State University in suburban Chicago has chosen its first mascot - the Jaguars.

The University Park school unveiled the mascot on Tuesday. It will use the name when it begins intercollegiate play this fall.

The new logo features an orange and black jaguar superimposed over a claw mark. The school decided on the mascot after a search that started in February and included input from faculty, staff, students and the community.

The Jaguars was one of four finalists that the school put up for an online vote. School officials say they received more than 30,000 online votes.
