HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Philadelphia Democrat says she wants to force the state House of Representatives to vote on a bill to expand Medicaid in Pennsylvania under the 2010 federal health care law.

State Rep. Pam DeLissio said Wednesday she told the speaker she plans to call up a discharge resolution next month so that members can vote on a bill to cover childless adults and married couples below 133 percent of the federal poverty level.

DeLissio says Medicaid expansion could provide health care for about 500,000 state residents.

Corbett, a first-term Republican, is seeking approval from the federal government to use the federal Medicaid expansion dollars to subsidize private insurance plans for the same group of people.

About half the states are accepting Medicaid expansion money under President Barack Obama’s signature law.
