RAMAPO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say four Rockland County students have been suspended for a week after one of them brought a pellet gun to school.

Police say the incident occurred on Friday. They say the gun was passed around among students at the Pomona Middle School.

The Journal News (https://lohud.us/1iWOBN2 ) says police are investigating whether the students also made threatening phone calls to classmates about using the pistol.

The school says East Ramapo received no reports from students or staff about the gun.

Police searched the home of the student suspected of bringing the weapon to school but nothing was found.

The school has 658 students in grade 7 and 8.
