DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Polk County supervisors have approved a $125,000 grant so about 130 central and western Iowa veterans of the Korean War can see the memorials and other sights in the nation’s capital.

The board unanimously approved the grant on Tuesday.

Council Bluffs businessman Jeff Ballenger is chairman of the Central Iowa Honor Flight committee, and he says the money will cover total cost of the Sept. 30 flight.

The veterans will be able to see the Korean War memorial in Washington, as well as the Vietnam memorial and others.

Veterans can call 712-322-3638 for more information or download an application from www.centraliowahonorflight.org .
