YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - Police in southeast South Dakota say a Yankton man has been charged for threatening to shoot up a school in a message on Twitter.

Yankton Police Chief Brian Paulsen says 23-year-old Travis Potts has been charged with two counts of making terroristic threats.

A caller notified the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office about the tweet Wednesday. Paulsen says the tweet stated that Potts intended to “shoot up” a school.

Paulsen says active shooter protocols were put in place and officers were sent to every school in the Yankton School District.

Potts was arrested before noon. Officers are searching his home.

It was not immediately clear whether the man has legal representation.
