MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A former Mobile police officer has been convicted of evading his state income taxes and filing a false state tax return under penalty of perjury.
Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange said Thursday that 61-year-old Donald Pears claimed he was exempt from state income tax withholdings and had zero tax withholdings over the course of several years.
It’s unclear when Pears will be sentenced.
