TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - Northeastern State University has established a $125,000 emergency scholarship fund to help students facing unforeseen financial circumstances and to help keep them on track to finish their degrees.
The Tahlequah-based school announced the fund this week to commemorate the 125th anniversary celebration of its historic Seminary Hall.
The Light the Way Scholarship fund will assist students beginning this fall. The fund’s name is inspired by the original dedication ceremony of Seminary Hall on campus in 1889, where a speaker said that the seminary “ignited the lamp of learning in the wilderness.”
