COVENTRY, Vt. (AP) - A solar power project is under construction at Vermont’s only operating landfill in the town of Coventry.
The solar farm is expected to produce enough electricity to power 261 homes for a year.
The 9,018-panel ground-mount solar array is being built on the site’s buffer zone.
The Caledonian Record (https://bit.ly/QmyBY5 ) reports that landfill owner Casella Waste Systems sold the solar project last fall to Borrego Solar Systems Inc.
Casella CEO John Casella says the installation will allow the company to utilize the entire property to generate energy.
