KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) - A magnitude 3.8 earthquake Monday morning rattled the west side of Hawaii Island.

West Hawaii Today (https://bit.ly/1wbgrXc) reports the earthquake struck at 5:39 a.m. in ocean waters about 8.5 miles northwest of Kailua-Kona.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake was felt by residents in the South Kohala, North Kona, South Kona and Kau districts.



The earthquake epicenter was 6.8 miles deep.
